Announcing New Sustainability Research & Policy Network
We are pleased to announce the creation of Sustainability Research & Policy Network (SRPN). It will provide a worldwide, online community for research in all areas of sustainability and policy, following the model of other subject matter networks within SSRN.
We expect SRPN to become a comprehensive online resource for research in sustainability and policy, providing scholars with access to current work in their field and facilitating research and scholarship.
SRPN is sponsored by GSE Research, a new online publisher whose aim is to provide a valuable bridge between scholarly research and practice in the fields of governance, environment and sustainability. GSE offers a fast and friendly publication process and global dissemination of your work. Authors retain the right to publish later versions elsewhere if desired. SRPN's founding director is John Peters, CEO of GSE Research (john.peters@gseresearch.com) and is edited by Colin Fisher from Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, and Timothy M. Devinney from University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), Faculty of Business.
Initially, SRPN will begin with the following 25 Subject Matter eJournals, and subscriptions will be free during the start-up phase through September 2012. SRPN will also begin with two Research Paper Series - Center for Robust Decisionmaking on Climate & Energy Policy (RDCEP) Working Paper Series and International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) Discussion Paper Series - as noted below.

The Center for Robust Decision Making on Climate and Energy Policy (RDCEP) brings together experts in economics, physical sciences, energy technologies, law, computational mathematics, statistics, and computer science to work on a series of tightly connected research programs. Ultimately this research aims to improve the computational models needed to evaluate climate and energy policies, and to make robust decisions based on outcomes. The Center was established in September of 2010 by the University of Chicago in partnership with several universities and national laboratories and is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) through the Decision Making Under Uncertainty (DMUU) program. The RDCEP working papers series is published electronically and is available online.
The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks sustainable solutions for ending hunger and poverty. The Institute's main outcome is policy information that leads to changes in food policy that improve the lives of poor people and promote sustainable food production. This vision of ending hunger is based on the human rights to adequate food and freedom from hunger, and the recognition of the dignity inherent in all human beings. It is a vision of a world where every person has secure access to sufficient and safe food to sustain a healthy and productive life and where food-related policy decisions are made transparently, including the participation of consumers and producers. IFPRI is committed to providing global food policy knowledge as an international public good; that is, it provides knowledge relevant to decisionmakers both inside and outside the countries in which it undertakes research. New knowledge on how to improve the food security of low-income people in developing countries is expected to result in large social benefits, but in most instances the private sector is unlikely to carry out research to generate such knowledge. IFPRI views both public organizations and the private sector in food systems as objects of study and as partners.
