Management and Control Systems
Assistant/Associate Professor
HEC Paris invites applications for a faculty position at
the Assistant or Associate Professor level, beginning Fall
2010. The position is within the Department of Accounting
and Management Control.
We are looking for applicants with a strong Management
profile/background and an interest for understanding how
managerial accounting and control systems interact with
management, organizational and strategy issues.
The position is targeted at the Assistant Professor level,
but experienced candidates at the Associate Professor level
are also encouraged to apply.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A strong track in both research and teaching is required.
Proficiency in French is not demanded, since research is
conducted in English and teaching can be completed entirely
in English, Some command of French is a plus.
Teaching experience would be appreciated.
Applicants must have a proven or a strong potential in top
quality research to be published in leading international
journals. Support for research is excellent, including
grants from HEC. During their first three years at HEC,
assistant professors benefit from a reduced number of
teaching hours, simplified access to research funds and an
exemption of administrative duties.
The remuneration and benefits package is competitive by
international standards and will be commensurate with
experience and profile.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING AND MANAGEMENT CONTROL:
The Department comprises 15 faculty members and several
adjunct faculty members both in the Financial Accounting
and Management Control areas. Each year, the Department
welcomes visiting professors from all over the world.
Research is currently carried out by faculty and doctoral
students in a wide range of areas and with various
methodological approaches, from positive accounting
research to social, organizational and critical approaches
to accounting.
The open position concerns specifically teaching and
research in the Management and Control Systems area. The
members of the Department currently working in this area
conduct research on different issues, such as performance
management, the role of management accountants,
organizational learning, culture and sense-making, and
gender issues. They have a strong knowledge of, and
interest in, the social and organizational aspects of
managerial accounting and control systems. There is a
strong team-spirit and research collaboration is given high
importance. Interdisciplinary research - especially with
the Departments of Strategic Management and Human Resources
Management-is also encouraged.
