AND DEVELOPMENT

Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa, Italy, is pleased to
announce the 2007-8 call for the Ph.D. Course in Management,
Competitiveness and Development.
The Course is a three-year programme of advanced teaching
and supervised research, offered by an international
Faculty, composed of both internal faculty and scholars
from other Italian and foreign Universities. The teaching
involves the first three semesters of the course and is
completely taught in English. At the end of the course and
after specific exams, the School awards the Ph.D. title.
COURSE TOPICS:
The Course deals with the most important management topics
which characterise current research activities at
international level, and is strongly oriented towards
existing links between innovative services and
competitiveness.
Particular emphasis is given to:
- the management of innovation processes and the
international competitiveness of firms, institutions, as
well as local, regional and national systems, and to
- the management of innovative services, such as
environmental, insurance, health, technological and
industrial policy services.
The aim of the Course is to train people who will then be
able to cover academic positions as well as managerial
positions in both public and private organizations. This is
why the objective is to provide strong bases in the field
of research methodology, as well as involvement in joint
research projects with companies.
The Ph.D Programme on Management, Competitiveness and
Development is strictly connected to faculty and research
activities from the Management & Innovation Laboratory and
MES Laboratory at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and also
benefits from contribution from other laboratories of the
Scuola, both in Social and Applied Sciences. In fact, the
mission of these Laboratories, i.e. the study of innovation
management in corporations, public administrations and
regions, is one of the main fields of research this Ph.D.
Course deals with.
FUNDING:
Every year the Programme offers funding to at least 4 UE
students, and to 1 non-UE student. The grant amount to
12,500 euros per year, plus meals at the School's canteen
and access to Research and Campus facilities. Some other
students without grant are usually admitted to the Course.
In case additional funds become available before the
beginning of the Programme, the number of positions may be
increased.
