The Faculty of Law in the University of Oxford invites applications for a two-year Research Fellowship working with Professor John Armour and an international team of researchers on an ESRC-funded project, on law, development and finance in the 'rising powers' (Brazil, India, Russia and China).

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Research Fellow will undertake research on the relationship between law and economic development with specific reference to developments in Brazil. The research will explore the extent to which reforms of corporate, securities and other laws and legal institutions have facilitated the development of financial markets and the economy in those countries. This will involve the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. The Research Fellow will help to set up and conduct interviews in Brazil and will play an active role in subsequent analysis and dissemination of results.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must hold or be near to the completion of a doctorate or equivalent in a relevant social science discipline (Law, Economics, Management, Political Science or Sociology); have a good level of written and spoken Portuguese; outstanding research skills; and a professional familiarity with scholarly literature and debates in the relevant area(s), as evidenced in research training and written work.
