Assistant Professor (tenure-track)/Senior Teaching Consultant/Teaching Consultant

Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant Professor (tenure-track)/Senior Teaching Consultant/Teaching Consultant (holding the title of Director of Legal Research and Writing Programme) in the Department of Law, from July 1, 2013, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

ABOUT THE FACULTY OF LAW: The Faculty of Law plays a leading role in legal education in Hong Kong and Asia, through its various undergraduate, research postgraduate, and taught postgraduate programmes covering a wide range of legal subject areas. It is the largest and oldest law teaching institution in Hong Kong, currently consisting of over 70 teaching members drawn from more than 17 jurisdictions worldwide, and over 1500 undergraduate and postgraduate students.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The appointee will be responsible for the administration and development of the courses in Legal Research and Writing, and Mooting and Dispute Resolution offered by the Department to undergraduate Law students (LL.B. and Double Degree). The duties of the appointee will focus on skills teaching and teaching-related matters. Applications are particularly sought from persons having previous experience in teaching legal skills in a common law jurisdiction and significant practical experience, including experience in programme design and administration.

BENEFITS: A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with the appointee's qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
