Campbell University seeks a strategic thinker and proven leader to become the next Dean of the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Dean will continue the strong upward trajectory of the law school, building on its tremendous success, and will distinguish the school in a highly competitive legal environment.

THE OPPORTUNITY: The Dean is the chief academic officer and administrator of the Law School, providing leadership, advocacy, and guidance that advance its goals. The Dean will have the opportunity further to capitalize on the Law School's recent move to Raleigh and execute a plan to enable the school to achieve even greater success.

From the position of Law Dean, the individual will also serve on the Council of Deans, University Planning Council, and other administrative bodies that provide important leadership affecting the broader University. The Dean reports directly to the University Provost.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The Law Dean is expected to have an impressive record of academic achievement and professional accomplishment. The Dean must hold a Juris Doctorate degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school and is expected to have a scholarship record appropriate for a tenured professorship. Some experience as a practitioner in law is preferred.

ABOUT THE LAW SCHOOL: The Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law opened in 1976 on the Campbell University campus in Buies Creek, North Carolina, located 30 miles outside of Raleigh. In 2009, the school moved to downtown Raleigh. The new state-of-the-art legal education facility is within blocks of the North Carolina general assembly, appellate courts, state and federal offices, major law firms, and corporate offices and headquarters.

The Law School provides a liberal arts legal education designed to assist talented students in developing strong moral character, disciplined and creative minds, and superb professional skills for purposeful lives of leadership and service to their communities. The school has had the highest overall average passage rate on the North Carolina Bar Exam for the past 25 years. In 2012, the Law School was recognized as having a student career placement rate in the top 25 among all U.S. law schools.

The Law School has a rich history of developing lawyers with practical skills. As part of an institution with a Christian heritage, the school seeks to instill in its students the ethical practice of law with an understanding that people matter.

The school has been recognized by the American Bar Association (ABA) as having the nation's top Professionalism Program and by the American Academy of Trial Lawyers for having the nation's best Trial Advocacy Program.

The faculty is a community of scholars who make teaching their priority. They devote substantial time to serving as mentors, coaches, and professional role models. All faculty members have open-door office policies and are willing to consult regularly with students one-to-one. The professors are deeply committed to the search for knowledge through meaningful legal scholarship, while maintaining their devotion to the academic success and professional development of each student.

The school has an enrollment of 475 students and more than 3,200 alumni. Along with the Juris Doctorate degree, the school's educational program includes elective concentrations in Advocacy, Business, and Intellectual Property. Four dual-degree programs are available: Juris Doctorate/Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate/Master of Trust and Wealth Management through Campbell University's School of Business; Juris Doctorate/Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate/Master of Public Administration in partnership with North Carolina State University.
