                        Chair in Legal Theory


     European University Institute for research and postgraduate
     training in the social sciences and humanities is looking
     for candidates with a distinguished record of scholarly
     publications and experience in postgraduate teaching and
     doctoral supervision, to fill a Chair in Legal Theory
     (LAW6) in the Department of Law.


     JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

     Applications are sought from candidates with academic
     expertise in the field of Legal Theory and Legal
     Philosophy, including Social Theories of Law.

     The Department's focus is on the European, comparative
     and international dimensions of legal scholarship. The
     successful candidate will be expected to address this
     broader focus in his/her teaching and supervision of
     doctoral and LL.M. students, as well as pursue his/her own
     research. The Department is committed to linguistic
     diversity in its teaching and research activities.
     Candidates should have a good knowledge of at least two of
     the more widely used European Union languages.

     The chair will become vacant as from 1 September 2009.

     Contracts are for five years, renewable for further three
