available in the School of Law.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL:
Into its second year of teaching, the School has already
developed into a large-scale and successful operation both
in teaching and research. It currently offers an
undergraduate programme, the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with
Double Degree options in translation and business
administration, and research postgraduate programmes at
MPhil and PhD levels funded by the government and taught on
the main University campus in Shatin, New Territories. Its
five postgraduate programmes which include the Juris Doctor
(JD), Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration
(JD/MBA), and three Masters of Laws in Common Law, Chinese
Business Law and International Economic Law are all taught
at its self-financed Graduate Law Centre at the Bank of
America Tower Building in the central business district,
Hong Kong. September 2008 will see the launch of the
Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) programme which
provides practical training to qualified law graduates for
entry to the legal profession. Further information about

JOB DESCRIPTION/QUALIFICATIONS:
The School is seeking experts particularly in contract,
criminal law and procedure, evidence, equity and trust,
constitutional law, international finance and banking,
securities and regulations, competition law, and cyber law;
and for skills based teaching on the PCLL programme in the
areas of conveyancing and probate, land law, lending and
finance, corporate finance, alternative dispute resolution
and commercial practice. The appointee(s) will join the
School's international faculty of scholars from more than
ten different jurisdictions. Appointment(s) will normally
be made on contract basis for up to three years initially
commencing July 2008, leading to longer-term appointment or
substantiation later as applicable, subject to mutual
agreement. Applications for part-time teaching appointments
in the academic year 2008-09 (commencing September 2008)
are also welcome.
The School also welcomes nominations for senior posts at
Chair Professor and Professor levels. Nominations should
be sent under confidential cover direct to Professor Mike
McConville, Director, School of Law and Simon F.S. Li
Professor of Law. Visiting appointments are also available
for scholars of distinction. [Note: Those who have
responded to the previous advertisement for the post (under
Ref. no. 06/187/2) need not re-apply on this occasion. The
closing date for applications of 19 December 2007 does not
apply to senior posts at Chair Professor and Professor
levels.]
SALARY AND FRINGE BENEFITS:
Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with
qualifications and experience. The University offers a
comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical
care, plus a contract-end gratuity for appointment(s) of
two years or longer, and housing benefits for eligible
appointees.
