Tutorial Fellowship and University Lecturership (CUF) in Law
St Catherine's College and the Faculty of Law of the University of Oxford welcome applications for a Tutorial Fellowship in Law from 1 October 2013, to be held in conjunction with a University Lecturership (CUF) in the Faculty of Law. The salary will be on a scale currently from British Pound 42,883 up to a maximum of British Pound 57,581 per annum, with substantial additional benefits including a pensionable housing allowance of British Pound 7,251 per annum payable to non-residential Tutorial Fellows. The Faculty of Law will also provide the lecturer with a start-up grant of British Pound 4,000 (unless the appointee currently holds an established Oxford University academic post).
JOB DESCRIPTION: The person appointed will be expected to engage in advanced study or research in Law, and to give high-quality tutorials, classes, supervision and lectures at both undergraduate and graduate level. The College's requirement is for someone willing and able to take tutorial responsibility and teach at least two and preferably three of the following undergraduate subjects: Criminal Law, Roman Law, Constitutional Law, Tort Law, Land Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, and EU Law.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The Faculty requires proven teaching competence (or the potential for such competence) in at least one of the following: Commercial Remedies, Conflicts of Law, EU Law (internal market), Family Law, Medical Law and Ethics, Roman Law (FHS/BCL), and Criminal Law. The successful candidate will be expected to teach one of these subjects for the Faculty. Applicants should have a higher degree in Law (whether doctorate or LLM equivalent) already awarded at the time of interview; and should demonstrate scholarship of the highest quality, a sound knowledge of Law in the relevant subjects, an understanding of the needs of students, and excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
