Law Faculty Fellow (Lecturer)

The University of Denver, Sturm College of Law seeks applicants for its newly-created DU Law Faculty Fellow Program focused on the professional development of diverse legal academics for entry-level tenure-track law faculty positions.

The DU Law Fellow Program seeks aspiring legal academics who will diversify law faculty ranks on the basis of race, national origin, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, religion, & past military service, as well as those from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds & those who did not receive their JD from an institution that historically serves as a training ground for law faculty. The Law Fellow Program is especially committed to developing teachers & scholars who will bring a wide range of perspectives to legal academia, including but not limited to the perspectives of diverse communities.

JOB DESCRIPTION: We expect to fill one position to begin a two-year appointment during the 2012-13 academic year. The Law Fellow will receive a competitive salary plus benefits & will be granted a modest professional development budget. In recognition of the time & effort involved in developing teaching & scholarly research skills, the fellow will have a moderate teaching load during their four semesters in residence so that they can concentrate on developing excellent teaching practices & producing a substantial scholarly work. The fellow will also be expected to participate as extensively as possible in the intellectual life of the law school in preparation for an academic career. The College of Law will assign a mentoring committee to support & closely monitor the Law Fellow's progress.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications include: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; a record of academic excellence; demonstration of a strong interest & propensity for law teaching & legal scholarship; strong writing ability; & professional recommendations from law professors, judges, & practitioners.
