Senior (Tier 1) Canada Research Chair in Law
The Faculty of Law at the University of British Columbia
seeks to recruit and to nominate a Senior (Tier 1) Canadian
Research Chair in Law.

The Canadian Research Chair program - http://www.chairs.gc.ca
was established by the Canadian Federal Government with the
purpose of attracting outstanding researchers to the
Canadian university system. Tier 1 nominees should meet the
requirements for Tier 1 appointment as defined by the
Canada Research Chairs program:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
The Faculty seeks an outstanding researcher for appointment
as a senior-level tenured Associate Professor or a Full
Professor. Absent exceptional circumstances, an LL.B., J.D.
or equivalent law degree plus relevant advanced graduate
level education will be required. The successful candidates
will have an outstanding record of scholarly and teaching
accomplishment and the demonstrated ability to contribute
to the internationally acclaimed record of research and
scholarship of one of Canada's premier law schools. The
Faculty is particularly interested in candidates whose work
focuses on environmental law/sustainability, business law
(especially finance or commercial law), or law and medicine
or law and science (including but not limited to patents
and biotechnology, neuroscience, and public health law).
Additionally, we welcome candidates who bring indigenous
perspectives to their scholarly research. Outstanding
candidates with other research interests are also welcome
to apply.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The successful applicant will be expected to maintain a
highly productive scholarly agenda including the
development of research relationships with researchers
across Canada and internationally, to provide effective
teaching and mentoring of J.D. and graduate students, and
to take on a leadership role in the Faculty's initiatives.
Salary will be competitive and commensurate with the
qualifications of the candidate.

Review of applications will begin September 28, 2009, and
will continue until the position is filled. Early
applications are strongly encouraged as the Faculty will
work with the successful applicant to submit a CRC
nomination to the CRC secretariat by April 2010.
Publications will not be returned and incomplete
