The Institute for Information Law (IViR) is an academic
research institute that is part of the Faculty of Law of
the University of Amsterdam. The institute is one of the
largest research centers for information law in the world.
The Institute currently employs over 25 researchers.
The Institute for Information Law of The Faculty of Law
of the University of Amsterdam has positions available, for a
Senior Researcher (part-time or full-time) and a Researcher
(part-time or full-time)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Both researchers will carry out a variety of research
projects within the entire realm of information law
(broadcasting and telecommunications regulation, Internet
governance, freedom of expression and information, privacy,
intellectual property law, etc.), in collaboration with
other researchers of the Institute under supervision of its
Directors. In addition, the Senior Researcher will
initiate, organize and coordinate research, and will be
involved in the teaching and/or coordination of courses of
the Institute's master programs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in legal research
- Broad expertise in the field of information law, as can
be demonstrated by academic publications and/or 'hands-
on' experience in legal practice
- Creative mind and analytical intelligence
- Good knowledge of current developments in information
markets and technology
- Excellent writing skills
- Capacity to work in teams
- Fluency in English and preferably Dutch, both orally and
in writing
- In addition, for the Senior Researcher: PhD or equivalent
degree in the field of information law or related legal
domain; capacity to initiate and organize research
projects and develop new lines of research; experience in
legal education
APPOINTMENT:
Both vacancies are available either as full-time or part-
time positions. Appointments are for two years, but may be
extended conditional to sufficient funding. Monthly
salaries, calculated on a full-time basis, commence at Euro
2379 (Researcher) and Euro 3195 (Senior Researcher), but
may be higher depending on relevant prior experience.
