Tilburg University invites applications for four post-
doctoral researchers in the field of comparative
constitutional law and/or political science for ERC-funded
project EuNaCon.

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE:
The Faculty has recently established the new Tilburg
Institute of Comparative and Transnational Law (TICOM).
TICOM is a research institute devoted to studying law from
a comparative and transnational perspective. Its main focus
is how law can be perceived beyond the nation-state and it
adopts an approach in which various areas of law are
explored in an integrative way. TICOM is aiming to become a
leading centre for an innovative approach towards
comparative and transnational law. It offers a stimulating
academic environment by:
- attracting talented PhD researchers and post-docs
- inviting (foreign) researchers to visit the Tilburg
campus and give seminars
- organising invited conferences
- stimulating interdisciplinary work

researchers for ERC-funded project EuNaCon (f/m, fulltime)

ABOUT THE EUROPEAN AND NATIONAL CONSTITUTIONAL
LAW PROJECT:
Applications are invited for four post-doctoral researchers
to work as part of EuNaCon, a new ERC (European Research
Council) funded project at Tilburg University. EuNaCon (The
European and National Constitutional Law Project) focuses
on the study of European and comparative constitutional
law. It aims to identify, analyse and compare national
constitutional concepts and principles and to identify
commonality as well as constitutional diversity in 10 EU
Member States (Germany, France, the UK, Belgium, The
Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Sweden
and Italy and/or Spain). Starting from real-life problems
and concrete legal questions and cases ('bottom-up'), and
analysing the cases and constitutional materials, EuNaCon
aims to improve the body of knowledge on common
constitutional and traditions in Europe from within the
legal systems, and to identify constitutional diversity.
Each of the four post-docs will be covering a field of
constitutional law (the individual and public authority;
parliaments and governments; constitutional review; the
territorial dimension), while working closely together with
Monica Claes and the other members of the transnational
team.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate must have a PhD in constitutional law,
European constitutional law or political science (or
similar proven qualities), and be highly motivated and
committed to the EuNaCon project. He or she must have a
profound interest in comparative constitutional law and in
European integration. The ability to communicate and work
in English is essential. Any experience in
interdisciplinary settings will be considered a strong
point.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Tilburg University is among the top of Dutch employers and
has an excellent policy concerning terms of employment. The
selected candidates will receive a contract for the
duration of the project (4 years). The salary for the
position of a post-doc researcher on a full-time basis
ranges between Euro 3129,- and Euro 4284,- gross per month
(not included are various allowances). The project covers
two 3 months stays abroad. The target starting date will be
1 September 2008.
