ETH ZURICH
Ph.D. Positions in IP Law and Related Areas
At the ETH Zurich, the newly established professorship for
intellectual property (Prof. Stefan Bechtold) has several
vacancies for doctoral students. The starting date is
flexible.
At the ETH, we are building an interdisciplinary group
focusing on law-and-economics research in the following
areas: intellectual property law, legal problems of
emerging technologies (Internet law, telecommunications
law, IP-related problems of life sciences), antitrust law.
We are pursuing research projects that participate in the
international interdisciplinary dialog on the areas
mentioned. We are hiring candidates from law, economics
and related disciplines for the group.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
We are looking for candidates with an interest in one or
several of the areas mentioned above. A strong interest in
interdisciplinary research is required, in particular
concerning "law and economics" and/or "behavioral law and
economics". Strong English language skills are essential,
German language skills are not required. We are looking for
candidates with an excellent university-level law degree,
but also for candidates with degrees in related disciplines
such as economics, computer science or life sciences.
The professorship provides candidates with an optimal
working environment and the possibility, in addition to
collaborating on research projects of the professorship, to
concentrate on their own research projects. Structured
introductions into social science methods create the basis
for interdisciplinary research projects. Research colloquia
(partly with guests from Europe and the U.S.) as well as
the opportunity to spend research stays at universities
abroad complement the Ph.D.-level education.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
