     Applications are invited for appointment as a Research
     Assistant Professor (RAP) in Criminal Justice (including
     Criminal Law and Criminology) in the Faculty of Law, tenable
     before February 2009. The appointment will be made for a
     period of 3 years, with the possibility of renewal.


     ABOUT THE FACULTY OF LAW:

     The Faculty of Law plays a leading role in legal education
     in Hong Kong and Asia, through its various undergraduate,
     research postgraduate, and taught postgraduate programmes
     covering a wide range of legal subject areas. It is the
     largest and oldest law teaching institution in Hong Kong,
     currently consisting of over 70 teaching members drawn from
     more than 17 jurisdictions worldwide, and over 1000
     undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is interested
     in expanding its research in the field of criminal justice,
     an interdisciplinary area involving criminal law and
     procedure, criminology, human rights, constitutional law
     and public policy.


     JOB DESCRIPTION:

     The appointee will be expected to take a leading role in
     undertaking research in criminal justice issues, especially
     in the Hong Kong context and from a comparative and
     international perspective. The appointee will lead the
     preparation and submission of relevant research funding
     applications, both within the University and also to
     external funding bodies. He or she will also organize
     events and activities within the Faculty of Law's Centre
     for Comparative and Public Law (CCPL) in the criminal
     justice area. The appointee may also be expected to teach
     in the fields of criminal justice, criminal law, criminal
     procedure, criminology and the law of evidence, as needed.

     will work directly with the Director of the CCPL. See:

     JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

     Applicants must possess post-graduate qualifications in
     law, preferably with an established research record in the
     field of criminal justice, criminal law and procedure,
     criminology or law of evidence.

     A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications
     and experience will be offered, with a contract-end gratuity
     and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme
     (totalling up to 15 percent of basic salary). Annual leave
     and medical/dental benefits will be provided.
