     The University of La Verne College of Law invites
     nominations, inquiries and expressions of interest for the
     position of Dean. The University of La Verne was founded
     in 1891. It is a Carnegie Doctoral II university and
     enrolls 8,300 students in bachelors, masters, doctoral and
     professional degree programs in Arts and Science, Law,
     Business and Public Management, and Education and
     Organizational Leadership. The University's main campus is
     located in La Verne, California, which is on the eastern
     end of Los Angeles County at the gateway to California's
     "Inland Empire" - one of the fastest growing regions of the
     country.


     ABOUT THE COLLEGE OF LAW:

     The College of Law was founded in 1970 and received
     accreditation from the California Committee of Bar
     Examiners in 1972. Until 2001, the College was located on
     the main campus. In January 2001, the College relocated to
     a modern, state-of-the-art facility on a seven-acre campus
     in the city of Ontario, approximately ten miles from the
     main campus. The College is the only ABA-approved law
     school in the Inland Empire. The College received
     provisional ABA approval in February of 2006 and offers
     comprehensive full and part time programs leading to the
     JD degree. Enrollment is approximately three hundred and
     fifteen students. The College takes advantage of its size
     by emphasizing a student-centered approach with individual
     attention to its students.


     JOB DESCRIPTION:

     The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer
     of the College and reports to the Provost and Vice
     President for Academic Affairs. The Dean is also a member
     of the University's Senior Management Team and serves on
     the Provost's Council.

     The University seeks to appoint a dean who will build on
     the solid achievements of the College as a provisionally
     ABA-approved school and lead the College to full approval
     from the American Bar Association. The duties of this
     position include, but are not limited to, providing
     leadership in all aspects of the College of Law; preparing
     and supervising the College of Law budget; guiding the
     process of strategic planning; implementing accreditation
     strategies; overseeing the hiring and evaluation of faculty
     and staff and managing personnel matters; and acting as the
     liaison with the American Bar Association and California
     Committee of Bar Examiners.


     JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

     This position requires:

     - A demonstrated record of leadership in and familiarity
       with the ABA accreditation process;
     - A record of accomplishment in the legal profession, which
       will qualify the candidate as a full professor with
       tenure;
     - Excellent communication skills, enabling the selected
       candidate to be effective in representing the College to
       a wide range of audiences, including the academic
       community, the bench and bar, alumni, civic leaders,
       foundations and the general public;
     - An ability to devote substantial energy to leading fund
       raising activities;
     - An ability to relate to a multicultural student body;
     - Exceptional personal integrity and an appreciation for
       the importance of the highest standards of
       professionalism in the practice of law;
     - A demonstrated commitment to scholarship;
     - A history of administrative accomplishment, preferably in
       legal education; and
     - Experience in enrollment management and with the ABA
       approval process are particularly desirable.

     An undergraduate degree and a JD degree from an ABA
     accredited law school are required for consideration.

     A competitive compensation package will be offered to the
     successful candidate, which will include a comprehensive
     benefits plan. All employees receive 50 percent tuition
     remission in the second year of employment, 75 percent in
     the third year, and 100 percent in the third year. The
     university contributes an amount equal to 10 percent of
     employee's pay, to supplement the employee's mandatory 5
     percent contribution, into a TIAA-CREF retirement plan.
