                     Centenary Recruitment Plan


     Founded in 1911, The University of Hong Kong is committed

     As the University approaches its 100th anniversary, a major

     200 new academic positions. The purpose of this Centenary
     Recruitment Plan is to enhance our research competitiveness
     and to facilitate the introduction and delivery of a new
     four-year undergraduate curriculum from 2012.

     Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Law

     JOB DESCRIPTION:

     Applications are invited for appointment as Associate
     Professor/Assistant Professor in the Department of Law,
     from as soon as possible. The post will initially be made
     on a three-year term, under the Centenary Recruitment Plan

     Appointees who have demonstrated performance will be
     considered for tenure during the second three-year
     contract.


     JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

     Applicants for Associate Professor should possess an
     established academic, research and publication profile,
     preferably in one or more of the Faculty of Law's
     established areas of strength (Public Law; Comparative
     Chinese Law; Commercial, Corporate and Financial Law;
     Intellectual Property and Information Technology; WTO and
     International Economic Law; and Dispute Resolution and
     Negotiation); while applicants for Assistant Professor
     should have excellent academic qualifications and be able
     to demonstrate good potential for conducting research and

     SALARY/BENEFITS:

     Annual salaries will be in the following ranges (subject to
     review from time to time at the entire discretion of the
     University), with starting salary depending on
     qualifications and experience:

     Associate Professor: HK$622,740 - 963,060
     Assistant Professor: HK$474,600 - 733,440
     (approximately US$1 = HK$7.8)

     The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and
     University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme,
     totalling up to 15 percent of basic salary, as well as
     leave, and medical/dental benefits. Housing benefits will
     be provided as applicable. At current rates, salaries tax
     does not exceed 16 percent of gross income.
