The New England Law | Boston Legal Studies Research Paper Series features the scholarship of our accomplished faculty. An independent law school, New England Law's proud heritage began in 1908, when its predecessor, Portia Law School, was founded as the nation's only law school exclusively for women. Coeducational since 1938, the law school's academic centers focus on business law, law and social responsibility, international law and policy, and public health and tobacco policy. New England Law is also distinguished by its excellent clinical programs, international opportunities, superior teaching, and strong community. The law school is dedicated to preparing students to be successful lawyers and leaders in the public and private sectors, and to contributing to the improvement of American, foreign, and international legal systems.
