The American Bar Foundation (ABF) Working Paper Series is a source for research papers authored by ABF research faculty on the empirical study of law and legal processes. Multidisciplinary in nature, papers cover topics where the law intersects with sociology, social policy, anthropology, psychology, economics, political science, globalization, and history.

The University of California, Irvine School of Law is the first new law school at a member institution of the Association of American Universities -- the organization of 62 leading research universities in the United States and Canada -- and the first new law school at a public university in California in half a century. Emphasis will be placed on experiential learning -- ensuring meaningful opportunities for students to gain hands-on, real-world experience -- and interdisciplinary learning. Some of the nation's top faculty and administrators will join with several of UC Irvine's faculty with expertise in law-related fields, to collaboratively develop the new law school. Before welcoming the first class of 60 students in 2009, the faculty and administration will have a full year to design the school and curriculum, building upon the best aspects of traditional legal education while elevating legal preparation to more fully meet the needs and demands of the profession today.
