                        FINLAWMETRICS 2008

                          MISSING RISKS:
          NEW CHALLENGES FOR REGULATION AND SUPERVISION

     AIM:

     After two editions (2006 and 2007), Finlawmetrics has been
     establishing itself as a unique and original forum for
     analysis and discussion of the most relevant issues related
     to the evolution of the economics of financial regulation
     and supervision. This year, in the wake of subprime
     squeeze, new challenges have emerged for the design of
     financial regulation and supervision. The Steering
     Committee welcomes empirical, institutional and comparative
     papers that shed light on the different causes of and
     consequences for regulation and supervision, of this recent
     financial turmoil.

     TOPICS:

     The Conference will focus on the relationships between
     aspects of regulation and supervision on one side, and
     banking and financial markets, on the other side.
     Submissions by academics both with a background in
     economics and/or in law are welcomed.

     Topics suitable for the Conference include:

     Safety Net Design, Hedge Fund Regulation, Securitization
     and Regulation, Basle II and Capital Adequacy Requirements,
     Rating and Regulation, Central Banking and Supervision,
     Political Economy of Regulation and Supervision, European
     Financial Markets Regulation, Governance of Regulation and
     Supervision, Cross-Border Banking, Regulation and
     Supervision.


     FORMAT:

     Papers will be presented in session presentations of 30
     minutes, followed by 15 minutes of comments by discussants
     and an additional 15 minutes of plenary discussion. No more
     than 16 papers will be presented and overall participation
     at the workshop will be limited to 60 people.


     PAPER SELECTION:

     Authors are invited to submit electronically (MS Word or
     PDF format) completed papers. The first page of the paper
     should contain the title; name of the author(s), complete
     address, telephone, fax numbers and E-mail addresses.
     Authors shall be available to serve as a session chair
     and/or discussant. All submitted papers must be accompanied
     by an abstract of at least 250 words, but no more than 400.

     DEADLINE:

     The deadline for submissions is January, 31, 2008. Authors
     will be notified by February 28, 2008.

     Bocconi University will refund economy-class travel
     expenses and will cover accommodation for paper presenters,
     chairs and discussants.
