Workshop and Call for Papers
February 1-2, 2013, Albany Law School, Albany, N.Y.
Sharing Scholarship, Building Teachers - The 2013 Northeast Regional Scholarship and Teaching Development Workshop
This workshop is intended for law faculty who do not have tenure and who seek an opportunity to develop their scholarship and discuss their teaching with other, similarly situated law faculty. This program will provide a collegial and comfortable forum for untenured faculty to present works in progress, solicit feedback from peers ahead of the February-March Law Review submission season, and network with other untenured faculty in the region about teaching practices and related issues.
There is no fee to attend the program but you must register before the deadline: November 16, 2012.
REGISTRATION: To register, visit: http://www.albanylaw.edu/facultydevelopment
The Workshop will be organized around a series of thematically organized sessions throughout the day on Saturday, February 2. Every effort will be made to ensure that scholarship workshops accommodate both formal presentations and informal dialogue on works-in-progress. In like manner, we hope to accommodate a broad range of teaching interests in teaching workshops.
REGISTRATION AND ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS: Attendees will not be charged a registration fee for this workshop. However, by November 16, 2012, attendees must register online at: http://www.albanylaw.edu/facultydevelopment/Pages/registration.aspx to allow for meal planning and organization of the thematic workshops. If you are planning to present your research, you must first register and then submit abstracts, papers or presentation proposals through the conference website at the link entitled, "Submit a Draft, Abstract, Paper or Proposal for Review."
SENIOR REVIEW OF PAPERS: As noted above, the workshop is timed to coincide with the spring article submissions schedule. Those seeking anonymous review of completed papers should e-mail them to Prof. Keith Hirokawa at email@example.com by November 16, 2012. Albany Law School will arrange for anonymous review and comment from senior faculty (at Albany Law and elsewhere) in time for the conference.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS: A block of rooms at a rate of $99.00 have been held for Friday, Feb. 1, and Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Hilton Garden Inn at Albany Medical Center, conveniently located across the street from the law school. To receive the special rate, please call 518-396-3500 or go to: http://hiltongardeninn.hilton.com/en/gi/groups/personalized/A/ALBMCGI-ALS1-20130201/index.jhtml?WT.mc_id=POG
