NEXUS SYMPOSIUM: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30TH, 2009
NeXus: Chapman’s Journal of Law and Public Policy presents:
"The 80th Anniversary of The Great Crash of 1929: Law,
Markets, and The Role of The State", Friday, October 30,
2009, 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Chapman University
School of Law, Orange, California
Over a five day period beginning on October 24, 1929, the
New York Stock Exchange fell nearly forty percent,
beginning a sequence of market events that ultimately led
to the Great Depression. In recognition of the 80th
anniversary of "The Crash of 1929," NeXus: Chapman's
Journal of Law and Public Policy is pleased to host "Law,
Markets, and the Role of the State," a symposium that will
consider the historical development of modern financial
markets, the role of the state, and the intersection of law
and market. The program will bring together a Nobel
Laureate in Economics, a wise Latina Congresswoman, a major
California gubernatorial candidate and former member of
Congress, and leading scholars in law, economics,
sociology, business, finance, political science and public
policy. MCLE credit available.
