For TiasNimbas Business School, we are in search of a candidate for the position of: Academic Director MBA and Faculty Member (1.0 fte)
JOB DESCRIPTION: The goal for the Academic Director MBA is to manage the MBA programme by driving innovation and continuous improvement, thus ensuring a quality learning experience for all participants. S/he will ensure that the MBA programme is effective, innovative and driven by the pursuit of excellence. In conjunction with the Director of the MBA Division s/he will provide strategic direction for the MBA programme, overseeing the redesign and improvement of the programme.
The Academic Director of the MBA programme will work with faculty, programme managers, current students, and alumni, to deliver effective learning experiences and outstanding service to MBA programme participants. In addition, s/he will collaborate with other TiasNimbas units such as Marketing, Recruitment, Career Services, Alumni Relations and other internal departments and programmes.
As member of the faculty, the Academic Director MBA will also be expected to teach and be involved in some research activities. We are searching for a faculty member at the level of Associate or Full Professor (preferably in the field of Strategic Management, Change Management, Leadership, Organizational Behaviour or General Management) who has the ability to communicate, work with, and manage high performing individuals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ACADEMIC DIRECTOR MBA:
Academic Quality Affairs:
- Ensure overall academic quality of the MBA programme; enforcing policies and procedures relating to the academic programme
- Review syllabi and update course descriptions (in collaboration with lecturers), to ensure programme coherence and alignment with learning objectives
- Develop and update curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of the market
- Participate in and review key issues with Curriculum and Examination Committee
- Review participant feedback
- Brief lecturers on academic standards, assessment procedures and policy changes
- Discuss feedback with lecturers and assess their performance
- Decide on the renewal of contracts with lecturers, find and support new faculty in cooperation with Programme Manager
- Align the Personal Development Programme with the academic programme
- Member of project team for the preparation for periodic accreditation reviews
Student Affairs:
- Contact with students on academic issues (individual and study group meetings)
- Participate in recruitment, student and alumni events
- As member of the Admissions Board, conduct admissions interviews
- Conduct entrance and exit interviews with students
- Brief and consult students on management projects
- Travel with the MBA class on study trips
Strategic Planning and Operations:
- Align the MBA programme strategy with the TiasNimbas mission and strategy
- Jointly with the Division Director, plan and control budget for the programme
- Coordinate with Division Director on operational and planning issues
- Coordinate with Program Manager on curriculum aspects and logistics
- Deliver content for internal and external communications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD degree in business or related field from an internationally highly reputed university
- Minimum of ten years of professional experience with five years in a significant business or academic management/leadership role
- Excellent track record in teaching executive programs and, preferably, international MBA programmes as well
- Strong familiarity with global trends in higher education, MBA programmes and business education, business and economic issues
- Knowledge of general management curricula, including familiarity with other institutions' courses and programs
- Experience in managing/supporting recruitment programmes at a university, college or company
- Excellent communication and conflict management skills
- Excellent skills to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations
- Ability to represent TiasNimbas within and outside Tilburg University
