Professor of Finance
Applications are invited for a professor of Finance, in the
Department of Finance at The University of Melbourne. The
University of Melbourne is one of Australia's leading
research based universities, with an international profile
through its reputation for scholarship and teaching. The
University is seeking to appoint up to two Professors of
Finance to provide leadership in research and teaching in
the Department of Finance.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have an outstanding,
internationally recognised record of research in the
discipline of finance regularly publishing in the top tier
finance journals. It is expected that the new Professors
will take a leadership role in the conduct of high quality
research and research training. The successful candidate
should have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching
finance at both undergraduate and graduate levels; a
demonstrated record of successfully supervising higher
degree research students in finance and the ability to
attract such students; the ability and willingness to
undertake a leadership role in the administration of the
Department and the Faculty and to act as Head if required;
the ability and willingness to mentor other staff in the
Department and to contribute to the professional
development of staff; the ability to promote the interests
of the Department and the discipline of finance in the
wider University community, and the professional community,
nationally and internationally.
SALARY:
A competitive salary package will be negotiated with the
successful applicant. This tenurable position is available
from 1 March 2008.
