Research Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION: Supports research activities of the Mendoza College of Business faculty. Primary responsibilities include providing statistical and mathematical consulting and analysis for a broad cross-section of projects, performing research related programming tasks, and providing on-going R&D. Responsible for installing, maintaining, and updating all research databases and software. Assists in research software testing and system configurations.

Responsible for researching, creating, and updating knowledge base articles and Mendoza IT Research Group web pages to facilitate knowledge sharing. Gathers and creates training manuals, user manuals, operations manuals, and other research related documentation.

Works with individuals and groups within the Mendoza College of Business, including the business branch of the University Library, and groups around campus, including the Center for Research Computing and Office of Information Technologies. Assists in managing vendor relationships, negotiating contracts, procuring solutions, and monitoring expenses to stay within budget constraints.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field such as finance, economics, statistics or mathematics.Working knowledge of one or more of the following: C/C++, Microsoft Visual Studio, MATLAB , SAS , SPSS , STATA , Perl, Python, FORTRAN , R and other common research tools. Expert knowledge of at least one programming language and one statistical software package. Flexibility in learning new research tools and programming languages.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree in a quantitative field such as finance, economics, statistics or mathematics. 3 years experience in applying research methods using a variety of software/hardware combinations.
