Finance Lecturer/Senior Lecturer

The finance department at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota (Twin Cities campus), is seeking qualified applicants for a Senior Lecturer position starting in the fall of 2014. The position is for a non-tenure track nine month appointment, renewable annually subject to performance.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The responsibilities of this position are to teach 24 credits over the nine-month academic year, to participate in efforts to evaluate and improve the finance curriculum and to advise students regarding course work and career interests. Reductions in teaching are available for published research and for curriculum-related or program-related service assignments. Additional teaching with added compensation might be available for summer teaching, for teaching in Carlson's international MBA programs in Austria and China and for teaching in Carlson's Executive Education Center programs.

Teaching duties will consist of undergraduate and MBA finance courses, offered in both large lecture and smaller case discussion formats. The majority of the teaching will be in corporate finance and valuation courses, although there might also be opportunities for teaching in banking, global economy and other courses. The relevant courses are offered in Carlson's day, evening and weekend degree programs in the Twin Cities.

Salary and benefits are competitive.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must, at a minimum, have an MBA, a Masters degree or ABD in Finance, or a J.D. or equivalent degree with at least five years of related industry or teaching experience. The candidate must have a minimum of three years of experience successfully teaching finance courses.

The preferred candidate should have a PhD or equivalent degree in Finance or in a related field. The ideal candidate would have five or more years of teaching experience, including demonstrated success teaching finance courses at top-50 AASCB accredited schools. An established research record will receive added consideration.
