Aalto University School of Business invites
candidates to apply for tenure-track or tenured
faculty positions in Finance beginning August
2014. Positions are open to candidates in all areas of Finance.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The tenure track is open to
talented individuals who have excellent potential
for a scientific career. On the basis of their
experience and competence, applicants will be
placed on any of the four levels of the tenure
track system: Assistant Professor (1), Assistant
Professor (2), Associate Professor, and
Professor. The candidates for the two
first-mentioned levels are appointed for a fixed
term, while the candidates for Associate
Professor positions are appointed either for an
indefinite term or for a fixed term. The
candidates for professorial positions are appointed for an indefinite term.
Throughout their careers, those under the
academic tenure track system are expected to
exercise and guide scientific research, to
provide related higher academic education, to
follow the advances of their field, to
participate in service to the Aalto University
community, and to take part in societal
interaction and international collaboration in
their field. Individuals placed on the Aalto
University tenure track for professors have the
possibility to advance in their career through
regular performance assessments, which take into
account their merits in all areas of their scope of duty.

ENVIRONMENT: Aalto University School of Business
is the leading business school in Finland and is
located in central Helsinki. The Finance Group is
strongly dedicated to research, as shown by a
stream of research published in top Finance and
Economics journals. Teaching assignments
encompass undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D.
programs, and courses are taught in English. The
Department runs an excellent seminar series and
is equipped with all major Finance databases.
Many faculty members also have access to unique
registry-based data sets from Finland.
Finland is consistently ranked highly in
quality-of-life studies. It is the best country

Helsinki is the 3rd livable city in the world
according to a 2013 report by Monocle Magazine
and is 8th in the Economist Intelligence Unit livability ranking 2013.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal junior candidate
will have the potential to publish in top
journals and to develop into an excellent teacher
in our programs. Applicants for more senior
positions should have documented excellence in
research and teaching. Applicants should have
completed their Ph.D. in Finance or a related
field, or be close to completion in the case of
applicants for a junior position.

vitae, current papers, three letters of
recommendation, and any available teaching
evaluations. For tenured positions a cover
letter, a curriculum vitae, a list of
publications (with the most significant
publications highlighted), a research statement,
and teaching portfolio, by December 2nd, 2013.

Philadelphia (January 3-5, 2014). Aalto
University follows a new salary system of
universities, but applicants may also provide salary requests.
