The Jack Tai Chair in Finance (Position #003074)

The Lally School of Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute seeks applications and nominees for the Jack Tai Distinguished Chair in Finance.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must hold an appointment as a tenured professor. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or foreign degree equivalent in finance or affiliated areas and must be distinguished and outstanding scholars with a very strong research record in the field of finance, economics or allied disciplines with a strong interest in finance. We are particularly interested in scholars in quantitative finance. Applicants must also demonstrate promise of continuing success in research and possess a record of high quality teaching. It is expected that the successful candidate will help to provide leadership within the Lally School of Management and also mentor junior faculty members. Candidates must demonstrate having achieved the following in a minimum of at least seven (7) years of professional academic experience: academic leadership; a nationally or internationally recognized record of excellence in scholarship; a sustained level of high quality in educational activities that go beyond teaching and advising; and a sustained level of service to the department, the Institute, and the profession.

ABOUT RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE (RPI): Rensselaer is the oldest continuing technological university in the United States and, for example, ranks 23rd among all world universities according to one recent science-and-technology focused research ranking ( http://www.leidenranking.com/ranking.aspx). Its research facilities are in many ways leading-edge; for example, it owns (and makes available for faculty use) one of the world's top supercomputers, rated the world's 7th-fastest (and fastest university supercomputer) in 2007, and funds have been granted this year for a new supercomputer. The PhD program in the Lally School of Management has placed graduates into good universities.

The Finance and Accounting area has 10 faculty members with plans to expand in the near future. The Lally School of Management offers B.S., MBA, Masters of Financial Engineering and Risk Analytics, and a Ph.D. program in Management that includes finance and accounting concentrations.
