The Department of Finance and Statistics at Hanken School of Economics invites applications for: Assistant Professor in Finance in Helsinki 1.8.2013-31.7.2018.
JOB DESCRIPTION: As Assistant Professor (Swedish universitetslektor) you will teach, conduct independent research and carry out administrative duties. The total working time per year is 1600 hours. As Assistant Professor (Swedish: forskardoktor) you will be responsible for:
- Conducting research that meets high international levels, publishing your research in scholarly outlets and communicating the results of your work to the business community and society at large.
- Contributing to the research efforts and the development of new research capabilities of the department.
- Contributing successfully to the competence development of students by providing research-based teaching and supervision.
- Contributing to the development of the teaching capabilities of the department.
- Contributing to the administration of the department and the business school.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: To fulfill the requirements for the position a person need to have completed a PhD degree during the past five years (the period is extended in case of maternity/paternity leave). When assessing and comparing the qualifications of the applicants for the position research merits and potential are given precedence although teaching merits and interests are also relevant.
The successful applicant will be expected to have good knowledge of English. Knowledge of Swedish is considered a merit. The most qualified applicants may be invited to give two test lectures, one about their own research (20 minutes) and one directed to students studying Finance (20 minutes). These will be organised at end of the autumn term 2013 at Hanken. The language for the test lectures is English.
SALARY: Monthly salary for the assistant professorship is 3.274-4.221 Euro/month depending upon merits.
