Research Officer

The Systemic Risk Centre invites applications for a Research Officer. This post is funded for two years and will start as soon as possible . This post is to assist Dr. Jon Danielsson and Dr. Jean-Pierre Zigrand, the directors of the Systemic Risk Centre, in the programme of research attached to this Centre grant funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (UK). You will have good quantitative research skills in order to conduct original analysis in systemic risk of quality publishable in top quality peer-reviewed academic journals. Salary is British Pound 32,469 to 39,276 per annum inclusive depending on experience.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: As well as a demonstrated interest in systemic risk or financial stability, you should have a PhD (or have one nearly completed) in economics, finance, or in a mathematical discipline which permits you to bring these tools to modelling and/or econometric work in financial economics. You should also be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of economic modelling methods and of the underlying mathematical and statistical/econometric tools, ideally including some programming skills in a language like R or Matlab. Experience of presenting findings to scholarly audiences is essential.

Applicants with research interests in endogenous risk, non-linear feedback loops in economic and financial systems or economic network analysis are especially encouraged, as are applicants with an interest in the statistical measurement and modelling of systemic risk (the Centre has extensive access to valuable and unique data sources, including Markit).
