ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Business and Economics is comprised of the Departments of Accounting and Information Systems; Business Law; Economics: Finance, Real Estate, and Insurance; Management; Marketing; and Systems and Operations Management, The College serves approximately 350 graduate students in its MBA, MS in Accountancy, MS in Taxation, and Pre-MBA Certificate Programs. The College is the seventh largest full-time undergraduate business program in the United States, is AACSB accredited, and has been recognized by the Princeton Review and the U.S. News and World Report as a top business school. The College employs approximately 95 full-time and 64 part-time faculty. College academic centers and institutes include the Bookstein Institute for Higher Education in Taxation, the Center for China Finance and Business Research, the Center for Financial Planning and Investment, the Center for Risk and Insurance, the Center for Quality and Productivity Education, the Wells Fargo Center for Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and the San Fernando Valley Economic Research Center. The College Student Services Center/EOP Satellite provides comprehensive advisement services, EOP services, and a wide variety of support services in order to retain and graduate students. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the University's senior academic team, the Dean is the chief administrator of the College. The Dean reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and oversees departments and programs in the College. The Dean has primary responsibility for administering College instructional programs; creating and sustaining an environment supportive of teaching, research, and scholarship; developing and promoting long-range goals for the College; managing relations with accrediting agencies; planning and administering the College annual budget; implementing and interpreting university and state policies; making independent recommendations on all College personnel matters; and recommending appointments of chairs and supervising their administrative functions. The Dean plays a major role in developing external relations with organizations, individuals, the community, government, and accrediting agencies; and in seeking supplemental external support for the College. The Dean has responsibility for providing effective leadership to the increasing diversity and international character of the College. The Dean represents the College in the University and community, and performs other duties assigned by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Earned appropriate terminal degree from an accredited institution as specified by AACSB standards; qualification for a faculty appointment at the rank of Professor within one of the departments of the College; an acceptable portfolio of professional contributions demonstrating current Academic Qualifications; at least three years of administrative executive management or organizational/administrative leadership, preferably in higher education; a record of peer-reviewed professionally recognized accomplishment in professional forums is essential, while university teaching and scholarship are preferred; a clear strategic vision; demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with the business community; a record of effective and innovative leadership; demonstrated leadership in advancement, grants, and contracts; ability to function in a collective bargaining environment; and proven ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, university administrators, alumni, and business/community leaders required. A record of participation in successful fundraising and other developmental activities required. The position also requires the ability to provide effective leadership in responding to the increasing diversity and international character of the University and its service area, and in promoting diversity and educational equity efforts in the College. The preferred candidate should have successful experience with accreditation procedures and processes; and demonstrated leadership in program development that can be traditional as well as off-site, virtual, and/or partnered with other entities.
