ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Finance and Insurance ( http://www.LN.edu.hk/fin_ins) is one of the constituent departments that contributes to the undergraduate programme of Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) degree. The Department is responsible for offering finance and insurance subjects to students.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The appointee should be able to contribute to the teaching, research and service activities of the Department. He/she should have a strong research agenda with recent publications in top-ranked journals. Teaching experience in fixed income, valuation, and cases is highly desirable. The appointee is also expected to provide supervision for MPhil and PhD students, and to mentor and collaborate with other faculty on research projects.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have a PhD degree in the relevant discipline. For appointment as Professor, candidates should have substantial research and teaching experience with significant scholarly publications in leading journals and academic achievements. For appointment as Associate Professor, candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience and a sound track record in research and scholarly activities.
Candidates are required to provide information on their research records and evidence of quality teaching. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential. Administrative experience will be a distinct advantage. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and services to the Department and the University community, and to engage actively in quality research and publication.
APPOINTMENT: The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, housing benefits and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee.
Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of three years, which, subject to review and mutual agreement, is renewable for longer-term appointment or substantiation. For new appointee at the rank of Professor, appointment with substantiation will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
