Assistant Professors in Finance
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should be near completion or have completed a PhD in Finance or Financial Economics and have a strong research agenda indicating the ability to publish in high quality finance journals. Applicants must also have the ability to teach courses at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level. The Department will consider applicants from all areas of finance.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Finance at the University of Melbourne has well established undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs, and thus accommodates a wide variety of research and teaching interests. To support its many research activities, the Department subscribes to a large number of financial databases, including WRDS, SDC, Datastream, SIRCA, Bloomberg, OptionMetrics and IRESS. There are vibrant seminar and brown-bag series supplemented by an ongoing program of prominent international visiting academics. APPOINTMENT TERMS: Appointments are made for a probationary period of five years. Attractive compensation packages will be negotiated with successful applicants including outstanding research and travel funding and eligibility for six months' paid sabbatical leave after every three years. Teaching loads are extremely competitive; new junior faculty members enjoy a one class teaching load in their first year. The positions are expected to commence sometime in the period June through August 2013.
