Tenure-Track Assistant/Associate Professor Positions in Finance

The Finance and Operations & Information Management Department of the Isenberg School invites applications for one or both of the following two tenure-track positions.

1. The Finance and Operations & Information Management Department invites applications for a tenure-track position (Finance Position) in finance at the Assistant/Associate rank to start in September 2013. The position requires candidates to teach undergraduate, graduate or doctoral level classes at the Isenberg School of Management. The candidate should be willing to teach in both in-class and online programs.

2. The Finance and Operations & Information Management Department jointly with Commonwealth Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for a second tenure-track position (Finance-Honors position) in finance at the Assistant/Associate rank to start in September 2013. The position requires candidates to teach undergraduate classes in Honors, and undergraduate, graduate or doctoral level at the Isenberg School of Management. The Finance and Operations & Information Management Department has a thriving undergraduate program in finance and contributes to a highly reputed MBA program at the Isenberg School. The department also has a high-quality PhD program in finance with about fifteen students enrolled at any given time. The Isenberg School of Management is AACSB accredited, and is part of the flagship campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The Commonwealth Honors College, a diverse community of academically talented students drawn from the entire undergraduate student body, provides extensive opportunities for analysis, research, and leadership. The campus is also a member of the Five College Consortium and collaborates with Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges on many initiatives and projects. The University is located in Amherst, Massachusetts, recently ranked as the number one college town in the United States.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have or expect to complete a PhD or equivalent degree in finance, financial econometrics, economics, or some other finance-related discipline by August 2013. All areas of finance will be considered. Candidates must have expertise or evident potential for quality teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. An ability to teach in both face-to-face and distance education formats to MBA students who have considerable work experience is highly desirable. Further, candidates should show evidence of or potential for publishing in premier journals, such as Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Review of Financial Studies, and active involvement in research targeted to these or other publications in finance-related fields of comparable caliber.

Preliminary interviews for both positions will take place at the 2012 FMA Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. If the candidate is not able to attend the FMA Meeting, we will conduct an interview remotely by video teleconference (e.g., Skype). Deadline for applications for preliminary interviews is September 21, 2012. We will continue accepting applications until successful candidates are found. Salary is competitive. Rank and salary are commensurate with skills and qualifications.
