The Department of Finance and Real Estate is seeking to fill a Chair in the department with a nationally-recognized Insurance and Risk Management scholar to serve as the new Center's Academic Director. An endowment from Carl H. Lindner III and Great American Insurance Group (AFG) have been created to fund the new Carl H. Lindner III Center for Insurance and Risk Management at the University of Cincinnati's Carl H. Lindner College of Business.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This new Academic Director will be influential in working with leadership in the College of Business and local and national leaders from the Insurance Industry to define the strategic mission, the organizational/governance structure, and the activities of the Center (including both academic and industry focused initiatives). The Academic Director will be assisted in these activities by an Associate Industry Director and staff. A suitably designed structure and set of activities is expected to generate additional financial support from industry leaders.
It is anticipated that the Center will support the following activities/programs:
(1) High-impact research
(2) Nationally-recognized conferences aimed at academic and industry audiences (individually and jointly when appropriate)
(3) A high-quality and selective undergraduate program designed to train future industry leaders
(4) High-impact Executive Education opportunities
The Center will be housed in what is currently the Department of Finance and Real Estate. The faculty in the department values rigorous theoretical and empirical research and has been successful at publishing numerous articles in top-tier journals such as the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Finance, The Journal of Financial Economics, The Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Business, and Real Estate Economics. It is important that the Academic Director for the Insurance and Risk Management Center value and create synergies with such a faculty.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: The Academic Director is expected to have an established and influential record in the top-tier journals in Insurance, Risk Management, Finance, and/or Economics and an active on-going research agenda aimed at such journals. The Academic Director is also expected to have a strong desire and ability to interact with leaders from the Insurance and Risk Management industry, given the potential to address high-impact issues and conduct rigorous and relevant research utilizing unique data sources. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in finance or a related field (i.e., economics or insurance), and a strong commitment to quality teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
