The Department of Finance at the University of Connecticut is seeking applications for full-time, Assistant/Associate Professors In-Residence for research, teaching, service and outreach. These are full time, 11-month appointment with an anticipated start date of August 23, 2013.
Assistant/Associate Professors In-Residence
JOB DESCRIPTION/QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum requirements include a PhD in Financial Economics (candidates expecting to finish PhD by Fall 2013 are encouraged to apply). The job involves teaching in any of the UConn campuses mainly in mainstream Finance (Corporate Finance, Investments especially fixed income, Derivatives, Financial Institutions, and insurance studies, etc.) and possibly Financial Risk Management. The selected candidates will pursue applied research in finance with potential for publication in quasi-academic and trade journals in Financial Economics. In addition, an integral part of the job involves development of, participation in, and supervision of students engaged in business projects in various programs and the Experiential Learning Accelerators of the business school, particularly the Financial Risk Management program at Hartford and Stamford, and the Financial Accelerator at the downtown Hartford campus. The supervision of program and Accelerator projects involve making initial contact, developing and scoping of projects in collaboration with the sponsor company, and maintaining an office at the program or Accelerator site to provide guidance and feedback to participating students on a continuing basis throughout the semester, in close collaboration with business clients. The selected candidates will receive teaching load reduction for supervision of program and Accelerator projects in accordance with set guidelines in the School of Business. Teaching in specialized programs and supervision of projects may entail software application/development for experiential learning. So, we are especially interested in candidates who have experience in developing and delivering business courses using trading and valuation software including Bloomberg, WRDS, FTS, MatLab, EViews, MorningStar, Value Line, etc. While we will consider candidates who are fresh graduates, candidates with experience in teaching Finance classes at the UG and MBA levels, evidence of scholarly and/or applied research, management of projects with students in collaboration with business executives, and software application/development for experiential learning will be strongly preferred. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Candidates may work in the Undergraduate and MBA Programs at the University of Connecticut's main campus located in Storrs, in the scenic Northeast corner of the state, and/or the campuses at Hartford and Stamford. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
