Professor of Finance

RMIT invites applications for a Professor of Finance, full-time, continuing position, with an opportunity for career advancement. Salary is $152,123 p.a + 17 percent super.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL: The School of Economics, Finance and Marketing maintains high quality, innovative research and teaching programs that respond to industry needs. Responsible for all the economics, marketing, statistics and finance programs offered within the College of Business, the School also provides instruction in these areas to non-business schools in the University. RMIT has evolved to become Australia's largest multi-level post-secondary educational institution, priding itself on the orientation of its approach to applied research, which is the pursuit of solutions to real world problems. JOB DESCRIPTION: The Professor is a senior position within the School involving proactive leadership and direction in the academic discipline of finance as well as contributing to the academic development of the range of disciplines within the School. As the successful candidate you will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses and make a significant contribution to teaching and learning in the discipline with the aim of improving learning outcomes for students. The incumbent is also expected to make a significant personal contribution to the research effort of the School. To perform in this role includes identification and development of potential research projects, preparation of applications for industry and government grants, supervision of postgraduate research students, mentoring and supporting, the research activities of junior staff and helping to maintain and leverage for research purposes, important links between the School and its business and industry partners. Reporting to the Head of School, the position also involves close relationships with the School's staff and senior staff within the College. The incumbent is expected to make a significant contribution to the planning and strategic direction of the School and as such, will be expected to take on major academic leadership roles within the School.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: As the successful candidate you will be able to demonstrate a distinguished record of quality research and teaching. Your capacity to make a significant contribution to the growth and development of the finance discipline and the research performance of the School through your publication in international journals and research funding successes will be essential.
