ABOUT THE SCHOOL: The School of Accounting and Finance is the longest established accounting school in Hong Kong with over 100 full-time academic staff in the areas of accounting, finance, economics, and law. The School has adequate resources to support a variety of research interests and activities, and has comparative advantages in promoting cross-disciplinary research that is needed in the modern business world. The School has maintained an excellent network with Chinese mainland institutions for collaborative work.
The research of our School of Accounting and Finance is ranked 39th in the world (in accounting), 3rd in Asia, and 2nd in Hong Kong (The UTD Top 100 Worldwide Business School Rankings based on Research Contributions 2006-2010). During the last few years, faculty members were successful in publishing their research papers in top-tier refereed journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Journal of Empirical Finance. The School hosts two highly regarded international journals: The Journal of Contemporary Accounting and Economics and China Accounting and Finance Review.
Hong Kong is an international city located strategically at the heart of Asia and is the gateway to China, with excellent transport links to major international cities. JOB DESCRIPTION: The appointee will be required to (a) provide academic leadership for all finance-related programmes of the School; (b) provide leadership in promoting research, increasing the publication output, and raising the level of consultancy in the area of finance and related disciplines; (c) facilitate the School in increasing its visibility and strengthening its international connections; (d) conduct lectures and seminars at undergraduate and/or graduate levels; and (e) contribute to departmental and programme administration.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have (a) a doctoral degree in Finance; (b) an international reputation in high-quality scholarship and research in the area of Finance; (c) a strong record in attracting research funding; (d) a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching; and (e) proven qualities of academic leadership.
