Assistant Professor of Practice in Finance

The Finance Department in the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice position starting Fall 2012.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have either 1) a doctorate in finance or have completed all of the requirements for the Ph.D. at the time of appointment, or 2) significant corporate and/or professional experience along with an undergraduate or graduate business degree and an appropriate professional certification (e.g. CFA, FSA, FCAS).

JOB DESCRIPTION: Professors of Practice are hired on multi-year contracts, renewable subject to performance. Teaching responsibilities typically will be 12 hours per semester. A successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to teach college level courses, including large lecture sections of undergraduate courses. The faculty member will be an integral part of the Department's and College's long-term commitment to teaching excellence, and will be expected to teach a variety of courses at the undergraduate level in corporate finance, investments and risk management. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching. This will be an academic year (nine month) appointment and the salary is competitive.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: With the entrance into the Big Ten, the College and Department are experiencing significant growth, and increased resources are allowing for a substantial number of new hires across the College. There are currently over 500 undergraduate students majoring or double-majoring in Finance, and approximately 230 undergraduate students majoring in Actuarial Science. The Actuarial Science Program in the Finance department was in the first group of academic actuarial science programs designated as a Center of Actuarial Excellence by the Society of Actuaries.
