FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF PHILADELPHIA

          Supervision, Regulation and Credit Department

Position in the Retail Risk Analysis Group

The Retail Risk Analysis group is a unit of the
Supervision, Regulation and Credit Department at the
Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Our main areas of
responsibility are bank supervision, supervisory policy
consultation, and research related to banking and
supervisory topics. Retail Risk includes economists,
     finance PhDs, and industry experts.

     JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our main supervisory role is to contribute our expertise to
the evaluation of quantitative models for important banking
activities, including the implementation of Basel II, loss
forecasting, and scorecard modeling. On the policy side, we
contribute to the development of supervisory policies in
the area of credit risk measurement and management and
represent the Philadelphia Fed and the Federal Reserve
System on inter-agency working groups. We also conduct
original research and applied financial research in the
areas of credit risk modeling, risk management, bank
regulations, and other financial and supervisory topics. We
have access to an excellent computing environment as well
as a variety of specialized and/or proprietary datasets.

We are looking to add a new member to our team. A
successful candidate will serve as an expert resource for
department management and senior officers by monitoring and
evaluating trends in the consumer credit industry and
     developments in the regulatory environment.

This individual will work independently or with other
examination personnel, and meet on a regular basis with
management, technical experts at large, and complex banking
organizations to evaluate bank practices and to keep
     appraised of the latest techniques.

     JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

We are looking to fill a junior position but will consider
a well-qualified individual for a senior position. At the
junior level, we are looking for a recent PhD in economics,
finance, or a related field, or a PhD candidate near
completion of the degree, who has interests in credit risk
and banking with a strong quantitative background or the
willingness to develop expertise in these areas. At the
senior level, the candidate is expected to have a strong
publication record in the areas of interest to the group or
several years of relevant industry experience in leadership
     positions.

Our supervisory and policy work requires about 25 percent
travel time. The job also requires strong verbal and
written communications skills as well as the ability to
effectively communicate sophisticated technical concepts to
a variety of audiences. Candidates should be US citizen or
