The University of Auckland Business School seeks to appoint
a Professor to the BNZ Chair of Finance in the Department
of Accounting and Finance. The Chair is funded by BNZ, with
the aim of improving New Zealanders' understanding of
financial issues. The successful applicant will have a
distinguished record of teaching and research, and have
demonstrated leadership capability.
JOB DESCRIPTION/QUALIFICATIONS:
The University will give careful consideration to finance
academics with interests in the broad field of finance, and
is particularly interested in a candidate who can
demonstrate teaching and research excellence in the field
of banking/financial institutions and related fields.
The Chair holder will also, in association with the
Business School and the University, develop and build a
positive relationship with BNZ and its employees.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Accounting and Finance is one of the
largest in the university. The Department has a strong
research orientation, with faculty publishing in highly
rated international journals. There is a strong and growing
postgraduate programme, with approximately 15 PhD students.
ABOUT THE FINANCE GROUP:
The finance group within the department has particular
strengths in empirical research into financial markets.
Recent publications have appeared in the Journal of
Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of
Financial Economics, and the Journal of Accounting
Research.
ABOUT THE LOCATION:
Auckland has an attractive lifestyle. The city is built on
a narrow isthmus between two harbours - Manukau and
Waitemata - and is surrounded by 11 dormant volcanoes and
numerous picturesque islands. Auckland is nicknamed the
'City of Sails' because of the great number of yachts that
sail in the harbours and the adjoining Hauraki Gulf. To the
west of the city, the Waitakere Ranges rainforest forms a
gateway to magnificent west coast surf beaches and an
abundance of bush walks. Auckland is a city with a rich
cosmopolitan mix of peoples.
