OFFICE OF THE COMPTROLLER OF THE CURRENCY
Washington, DC
Enterprise Risk Analysis Division
Financial Economists
The Enterprise Risk Analysis Division has one or more
openings for financial economists/senior financial
economists. The Division specializes in the quantitative
models that banks use to assess their major existential
risks. In this role, we provide modeling expertise in
economic capital, enterprise-wide stress testing,
operational risk, and portfolio credit risk. Our most
important role is reviewing banks' quantitative models and
providing advice to national bank examiners and to bankers
on model appropriateness and model-risk control processes.
To support this role, we pursue basic research on
quantitative risk-modeling issues.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Model reviews usually require us to work onsite at banks,
so the job requires about 25 percent travel time. The
remainder of staff time includes scholarly research, policy
consultation, and examiner training on various modeling
issues.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
We would like to add staff with expertise in one or more of
the following areas: portfolio credit risk, economic
capital models, credit derivatives, option pricing, asset-
liability management, interest rate risk, mortgage banking,
operational risk and asset securitization. At the senior
level, the successful candidate will have a demonstrated
expertise in credit-risk, market-risk, operational risk or
interest rate-risk modeling as evidenced by a substantial
publication record and/or significant financial industry
experience. At the junior level, candidates will have a
demonstrated interest and capability in credit-risk,
market-risk, operational risk or interest rate-risk
modeling as evidenced by completed scholarly research work
and a firm expectation of defending their Ph.D. in Finance
or Economics or a related field by summer 2009, or an
equivalent combination of education and industry
experience. The successful candidate will be expected to
maintain an active research program.
Candidates must be US citizens or permanent residents.
