Finance Down Under: Building on the Best from the Cellars of Finance

March 6-8, 2014, Melbourne, Australia

The Department of Finance in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Melbourne is pleased to continue its annual conference series: Finance Down Under: Building on the Best from the Cellars of Finance on March 6-8, 2014.

OVERVIEW: We invite submissions that embody the best in current empirical and theoretical research. We welcome papers in corporate finance, asset pricing, and all other areas of finance. The conference selection committee includes eminent scholars in every facet of finance around the world. With the help of the selection committee, we strive to provide a highly reputable conference program that is internationally renowned for excellent presentations, discussions, and speeches.

Each year, we honor a "vintage" work in finance that has inspired recent advances and withstood the test of time. This year, Finance Down Under will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Myers and Majluf's 1984 classic "Corporate financing and investment decisions when firms have information that investors do not have". We are honored to have Professor Stewart C. Myers as a keynote speaker, as well as a special discussion by leading finance academics about the importance and influence of the 1984 paper.

Every selected presenter will receive three nights paid accommodation. In addition, each overseas presenter will be reimbursed up to AU$1,500 towards travel costs, and each domestic presenter will be reimbursed up to AU$400. Registered participants are invited to a half-day tour of the local wine country following the Saturday session as well as two conference receptions. For partners and guests, a limited number of social-only registrations will also be available.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: The deadline for paper submissions is midnight EST October 31, 2013. Papers should be submitted electronically at the SSRN conference website.
