ESRC Advanced Training Programme in Corporate Finance

23-27 September 2013, Xfi, University of Exeter, U.K.

The Xfi Centre for Finance and Investment at the University of Exeter Business School, University of Exeter, UK, is offering a one-week residential advanced training course on corporate finance lead by Professors Sanjay Banerji (University of Nottingham, UK), Sudip Datta (Wayne State University, USA), Filippo Ippolito (University Pampeu Fabra, Spain) and Jayant Kale (Georgia State University, USA). The local organiser is Prof. Abhay Abhyankar. This workshop is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council of Great Britain (ESRC), and is particularly aimed at, but not limited to, doctoral candidates and early career researchers in finance and economics.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Each day will comprise four sessions (two in the morning and two in the afternoon). The speakers will focus on their own areas of research and touch upon topics that have the potential to generate ideas for research papers. The sessions will be a mix of theory and related empirical applications. The theory sessions will be on models of capital structure, pay out policy and executive compensation and empirical topics include the relation between a firm's financial and investment decisions and its non-financial stakeholders, debt structure choice including pricing of debt IPOs, debt maturity structure and links to executive compensation; corporate debt financing and its interaction with corporate liquidity management.
