FMCG 2014 - 5th Conference on Financial Markets and Corporate Governance (SGF)
April 23 & 24, 2014, in Brisbane, Australia

You are cordially invited to submit papers for presentation at the 5th FMCG conference. Papers submitted should be related to one or more of the following broad research themes:
- Corporate Governance & Social Responsibility
- Corporate Finance
- Financial Accounting
- Financial Institutions & Markets
- Asset Pricing
- Fund Management
VENUE: The conference will be held at Gardens Point Campus at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane/Australia on 23 & 24 April 2014. The conference is being hosted by Queensland University of Technology in conjunction with La Trobe University, Curtin University, Macquarie University, Monash University and Victoria University of Wellington. The conference will be preceded by a PhD symposium on 22 April 2014.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: Submission to Conference Academic Sessions - All papers must be submitted via SSRN ( http://hq.ssrn.com/conference=2014-Fin-Corp-Gov-Conf). You must submit 2 versions of your paper in PDF format. One will note all authors' information on it and the second will contain NO author information at all (blind pdf). Also, you must select one session under the classification section for your paper.
When submitting to the FCGC 2014 meetings, you may select an option for your submission to be Privately Available. This enables only the conference coordinators/members of program committee and SSRN staff to access your submission during the review and selection period. Papers submitted as privately available will not be distributed as conference proceedings after the conference.
The submission deadline for full papers is 31 December 2013. Authors will be notified about the selection process results by late January 2014.
Submission to PHD Symposium - PhD candidates are encouraged to submit their research proposal (maximum 1000-word abstract covering title of their research, background information, hypotheses, research methodology, and expected findings and their implications) in the same subject areas as covered by the conference.
Do NOT submit your research proposal via SSRN. Abstract of the PhD proposal in pdf format must be sent by email to fmcgc2014@qut.edu.au on or before 31 December 2013. Authors will be notified about the selection process results by late January 2014.
Student presentations will be allocated an experienced discussant to maximize feedback opportunities.
SPECIAL JOURNAL ISSUE: The conference committee would like to invite all presenters at the FMCG 2014 conference to consider submitting their paper to the conference special issue of the Pacific Basin Finance Journal. Published by Elsevier, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal provides a specialized forum for the publication of academic research on capital markets of the Asia-Pacific countries.
Special Issue Theme - Governance, Risk and Financial Markets
Guest Editors: Balasingham Balachandran (La Trobe University) and Robert Faff (University of Queensland)
Submissions guidelines for the special issue - Once your paper has been accepted for the conference you can submit your paper at the Journal website ( http://ees.elsevier.com/pbfj) stating to be considered for publication in the special issue by 15 March 2014 with submission fee since they are subject to the Journal's review process. All papers accepted for the special issue will be ready for production on or before 1 December 2014.
BEST PAPER PRIZES: Prizes will be awarded to the best research papers in each of the following broad research themes:
- Corporate Governance & Social Responsibility
- Corporate Finance
- Financial Accounting
- Financial Institutions & Markets
- Asset Pricing
- Fund Management
A prize will also be awarded to the best PhD proposal at the symposium.

CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES: The conference will take place over two days with a social function on the night of Wednesday 23 April 2014. An overview of the PhD Symposium and Conference program is currently available from the conference website, however the complete program will be circulated early in 2014.
ACCOMMODATION AND TRANSPORT: Numerous hotels are located within close proximity to the conference venue. The registrations process (when established) will have provision for delegates to secure central accommodation in the one transaction. Alternatively, you may also like to consider searching for accommodation places using the online search providers such as wotif.com and expedia.com.au, or seek further alternatives from the Conference Secretariat.
