Call for Papers
Government Intervention in Residential Mortgage Markets
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Center for Real Estate Analytics and the Belk College of Business at the University of North Carolina Charlotte are jointly sponsoring a conference relating to government intervention in residential mortgage markets. The conference will be held on December 5-6, 2013 in Charlotte at UNC Charlotte's Center City Campus.
TOPICS: We are seeking policy-relevant empirical and theoretical papers on topics including (but not limited to):
- The past, current, and future roles of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the FHA.
- Government-sponsored loan modification and refinance programs.
- Predatory lending, consumer protection regulation, and "qualified mortgages".
- Risk retention for securitizations and "qualified residential mortgages".
- The government's role in assuring access to credit.
Conference papers will be eligible for a special issue of Real Estate Economics, subject to the journal's standard review procedures. Travel expenses will be covered for one presenter and discussant per accepted paper (for non-Federal Reserve employees).
PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: Please submit papers or extended abstracts to Sarah Jones at: sjone231@uncc.edu. The submission deadline is September 1, 2013.
