Call For Papers
2nd European Conference on Banking and the Economy (ECOBATE 2013)



The Centre for Banking, Finance and Sustainable Development (University of Southampton, UK) and the Money, Macro, Finance Research Group are inviting paper submissions for presentation at the 2nd European Conference on Banking and the Economy (ECOBATE 2013), hosted by the Centre on 6 March 2013 in the Guildhall, Winchester, UK and for publication in a Special Issue on 'Banking and the Economy' in the International Review of Financial Analysis.

Papers will be considered for a special issue of the International Review of Financial Analysis (IRFA), guest edited by Professor Richard A. Werner, Director of the Centre, due to be published in 2013. The conference is also open to delegates that do not present papers.

TOPICS: Papers are welcome on theoretical and empirical topics, examining all aspects of recent developments in banking, international banking, finance and banking, monetary policy, and the linkage between banking and the economy, especially, but not exclusively, the following:
- Macroprudential regulation and implications for monetary policy and country risk
- Reconsidering monetary policy in a post-crisis environment
- Interest rates and economic growth
- Weak loan growth - caused by weak credit supply or weak demand?
- Flow of funds and accounting approaches to analyzing financial and real sectors
- Reconsidering banking and its role in the world economy and in macro models
- International issues in banking and financial intermediation
- Local banking, relationship banking, SME banking
- Banking crises - causes, warning signs and remedies
- Bank regulation: goals, tools and lessons
- Sustainable banking/banking and sustainable development
- Monetary reform and full reserve banking
- Insurance vs. banking; deposit insurance and insurance guarantee funds

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: The submission deadline for full papers is 15 January, 2013.
