ESRC One-Day International Conference on Executive Incentives and Risk Taking

Xfi Centre for Finance and Investment at the University of Exeter Business School is organising a one-day international conference on executive pay and risk taking. The conference is co-funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (grants no. RES-061-25-0416 and RES-046-25-0031). It will be held at the University of Exeter Business School (Streatham Campus) in Exeter (UK). We expect to have up to six academic papers presented during the day. Both academics and practitioners are welcome to attend the event. The conference will also be attended by participants of the ESRC RDI Advanced Research Training in Finance (Corporate Finance Workshop) held in Exeter that week.

TOPICS: We invite submissions of empirical and theoretical papers (completed or nearly completed) related to the topic of executive incentives and risk taking: Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Executive compensation in international context;
- Design of executive compensation packages;
- Managerial incentives and risk taking;
- The role of inside debt;
- Executive pensions;
- Managerial incentives and financial crisis;
- Effectiveness of governance regulation of executive compensation.

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: Submissions should be sent in Word or PDF format to Maggie Bishop (M.L.Bishop@ex.ac.uk) by 20 July 2012. Please include "ESRC One-Day International Conference on Executive Incentives and Risk Taking submission" in the subject line of your submission e-mail. The selection of papers will be made by a committee composed of members of the Xfi Centre for Finance and Investment at University of Exeter and other finance academics. Authors will be notified by 20 August 2012 about the selection of papers. Travel expenses for the authors of papers selected for presentation at the conference (one author per paper) will be reimbursed.

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: The participation at the conference is free, but prior registration is strictly required. Lunch will be provided on campus to the event participants (please specify any special dietary requirements in your registration e-mail).
