INVITATION AND CALL FOR PAPERS:

SIFR CONFERENCE ON THE CHANGING NATURE OF
                CREDIT MARKETS: RISKS AND OPPORTUNITIES

                          August 25-26, 2008
                              Stockholm

The Swedish Institute for Financial Research (SIFR) is
pleased to invite interested academics and practitioners to
a conference on "The Changing Nature of Credit Markets:
Risks and Opportunities" on August 25 26, 2008, in
     Stockholm.

     CONFERENCE FOCUS:

Credit markets have changed substantially over the last
decade. Banks and other credit institutions securitize more
and more of their loans, mortgages are offered as
structured credit products and sold in various tranches,
and the opportunities to manage risks with credit
derivatives are greater than ever. The number of
participants that use the markets for financing and
speculation has increased, not least through private equity
funds and hedge funds. The advances have been fast and it
is not clear that regulators, policy makers, and
supervisory authorities know who are exposed to risks and
how well markets function during periods of crisis. The
recent turbulence in the credit markets, triggered by
losses in the US home mortgage markets, have had impact in
seemingly unrelated markets, affecting the global economy
and resulting in severe losses for lending institutions and
investors. The conference aims to bring together leading
academics with financial practitioners and policymakers to
discuss recent research on debt instruments and markets and
its broader implications for practice and policy.

The first conference day aims will feature keynote
presentations by leading scholars in the field, which will
be accompanied by panel discussions where practitioners get
to express their views on the featured topics. The keynote
     speakers are:

     - Pierre Collin Dufresne (Goldman Sachs),
     - Darrell Duffie (Stanford University),
     - David Lando (Copenhagen Business School),
     - Anthony Santomero (McKinsey & Co), and
     - David Skeel (University of Pennsylvania Law School).

The second conference day has a standard academic format,
and aims to provide an academic forum showcasing the
frontier research on credit markets. We plan on having 6 or
7 presentations of recent research papers, with a
     discussant for each paper.
