Professor of Practice in Technical Entrepreneurship - Start-Up Ventures
Lehigh University seeks applications and nominations for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track Professor of Practice for Lehigh's new Master of Engineering in Technical Entrepreneurship ( http://www.lehigh.edu/innovate) in the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. This position reports to the director of Lehigh's Integrated Product Development program, an award winning cross disciplinary program housed in the Wilbur Powerhouse complex on Lehigh's main campus. The position is also affiliated with Lehigh's Baker Institute for Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation, which aims to nurture a culture of entrepreneurship across the university, promote innovative thinking, and foster the realization of entrepreneurial ideas in any field.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates may have credentials in any field, but should have substantial experience in new product development leading to commercialization, preferably with hands-on experience with new company start-ups including forming the startup team, establishing the legal entity, identify market niches, developing the design and production system, selling to your first customer, establishing your supply chain, establishing your distribution system, managing people, information and data as they related to hardware and software systems. The exceptional candidate will have extensive experience in communication of technical and business issues via elevator pitches, briefs and business plans to angel investors, seed, venture and other funding sources. In addition, demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring at the graduate and undergraduate levels are critical attributes for this position.
JOB DESCRIPTION: This position will be one of three new faculty hires to support the new and growing discipline of technical entrepreneurship. Both the faculty and students will be from across the spectrum of academic degrees with diversity encouraged. Successful candidates will work with program director to continuously refine the curriculum, explore extracurricular activities, working with and monitoring student entrepreneurs, and in strengthening ongoing relationships with the design, product development and entrepreneurship communities.
